If you thought you did not have enough choice of mobile phones among Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Spice Mobile, BlackBerry, Apple, and HTC, you will soon have another brand to consider. The Singapore based Mobell has entered into a partnership with Salora, an Indian electronics company, to sell its mobiles in India.
The mobile phones will come with Dual SIM support. Spice Mobiles, another Indian mobile player offers many Dual SIM mobile options. With Mobell joining in, the consumers will have more options to buy from. The Dual SIM mobiles have received good response in India market so every new mobile players tries to use it as a bait.
Apparently, players like Mobell feel it’s still not too late to enter India mobile market. Salora sees an opportunity to expand its footprint in India. The company has been struggling to keep its Television business afloat. Riding on Mobell may help it win a bigger battle. Salora plans to pack the phones with its software that will give mobile users better access to value added services. It’s not clear what exactly would that be.

With Nokia standing so tall and wide in India, there is no easy room for the new player. Mobell has to bring real value to the buyers at a reasonable price to succeed on Indian soil. The carrier relationship will also matter. Apple iPhone which is massively successful elsewhere has not made major impact on the Indian scene. BlackBerry on the other hand offers more entry level economical options for the price conscious buyers and therefore is picking up pace.
